Our work
Priority Areas
Skills for Youth Entering the Labour Market
Focus on youth aged 18-30 entering the labor market, targeting unemployed youth or those in unrewarding jobs. Through civil society organizations in Africa, FIC strengthens technical and soft skills to enable youth to secure decent employment or improve their business acumen. FIC also strengthens youth organizations for effective management, governance, and representation.
Decent Work for Low-Skilled Workforce
Targeting low-skilled workers in labor-intensive sectors, FIC promotes effective collective representation and strengthens trade unions. Efforts include promoting workers' awareness of their rights and empowering them to participate in improving their working conditions. Advocacy efforts identify policy and accountability gaps that create decent work deficits.
Training and Capacity Building
Training and capacity building is a cornerstone of FIC Africa's initiatives. The organization is committed to facilitating training and capacity to make graduates more responsive to market needs. By providing scholarships and educational resources to disadvantaged youth, FIC Africa aims to equip the younger generation with the skills and knowledge required for gainful employment and entrepreneurship. The focus on training is not only about imparting knowledge but also about fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
Economic
Development
FIC Africa's economic development initiatives are designed to create opportunities for decent work and entrepreneurship. By supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through training and financial assistance, FIC Africa aims to stimulate local economies and provide sustainable livelihoods. The organization also focuses on improving market access for products and services offered by women and youth, thereby enhancing their economic stability and growth prospects.
Environmental Sustainability
FIC Africa is acutely aware of the importance of environmental sustainability in achieving long-term development goals. The organization encourages sustainable practices in communities and implements projects focused on environmental conservation and climate change adaptation. By promoting environmentally friendly practices and raising awareness about the impacts of climate change, FIC Africa seeks to ensure that development efforts do not come at the expense of the environment.
Governance and Advocacy
Strengthening capacity for advocacy and social dialogue is a crucial component of FIC Africa's work. The organization promotes good governance practices and civic engagement, ensuring that the voices of marginalized and vulnerable groups are heard in policy-making processes. By working with local governments, civil society organizations, and international partners, FIC Africa aims to foster a more inclusive and participatory governance framework that upholds the rights and dignity of all individuals.
